We had some rain again today but we preferred today's walk as it did not have us walking in a ditch! We saw some of the wall :
and we visited a turret as well as a fort. There are a number of Roman forts along Hadrian's Wall and in between there are Milecastles (every Roman mile) and turrets.
We took a small detour to Brunton Turret and had our photo taken by a couple of locals. They had a lady with them who was visiting from Canada because she had been a friend of the local woman's sister who had recently died. We had a nice chat with them before we carried on to Chollerford where we had a well-earned toasted teacake and a cuppa before we carried on to Chester's Fort:
From Chester's Fort we had to walk (uphill!) to our bed and breakfast and we nearly missed the minor road as it wasn't signposted but all was well that ended well when we got to Leazes Head Bed and Breakfast as it was lovely.
We had one huge room and another quite comfortable double, the breakfast was lovely and there was a drying room to dry our boots. We ate in the Crown Inn in the village and the man of the house took us and picked us up but we had to squeeze into a Corsa as his car was off the road - very cosy!
