Andy and I had a wander around Newcastle in the morning and then we went to meet Catherine and Brendan from the train up from London.  We got the metro to Whitley Bay where we are staying tonight in Oaktree Lodge.

We were very pleased with this B&B.  The proprietor, Andrew, was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.  We had a walk to Tynemouth and paddled in the sea (very cold) because someone had told us that we need to put our feet in the sea at each side of the country!

We stopped off for very tasty fish and chips at Pantrini's on our way back to the B&B.  The waitress was very helpful and offered to fill up our teapot but the tea became so weak that we couldn't drink it!
